Dear AHA Families,
Here is an important update regarding school on Thursday April 26, 2018.
Due to the anticipated absence of several staff members this Thursday, April 26th we will NOT be closing; but we will be having a modified school day.
That morning, we will start on a two hour delay. So school will start at 9:55 and end at regular dismissal time. We are planning a mini field day/campus clean up day/concert rehearsal on Thursday. Students should wear sporting clothing which are school appropriate, students do NOT need to wear a school uniform this day. Teachers who are not at school will not be expected nor required to attend the concert. Students, who attend the concert, must wear red, white and/or blue or a clean school uniform. Repeat- no uniform required on Thursday during the school day.
In order to maximize the number of staff on campus that day, no bus or van service will be available. REPEAT- No bus or vans will run Thursday 4-26-18 in order to increase the number of eyes on students on campus.
We anticipate having more than 10 staff members on campus that day. If every AHA student shows up, that will be better than a 16-1 student to staff ratio. Safety is our first concern, so if anyone is being unsafe he or she will be immediately sent home.
If you choose to keep your student home, either to support the Red for Ed movement, or because you are concerned for student safety, please call the office before 9:30 to excuse the absence.
Keeping school open Thursday 4-26-18 will keep AHA from extending the school year after Memorial Day.
Normal breakfast and lunch will served. We will start serving breakfast at 9:30 am.
If come Monday, we still have a majority of teachers/staff planning to be out, we may need to look at closing the school at that time. Please check our website and Facebook page for updates.
